Why I am a Christian Woman

Recently I heard some remarks to the extent of, Why would you want to be a woman and a Christian? A guy I understand. They can do whatever they want. They have complete control. Being a Christian guy would be awesome, but being a woman and a Christian makes no sense. I pondered this for a while. The remarks were of course due to people picking random things from the Bible without actually taking it in context. They claimed that women are treated as property in the Bible and are of a lesser value than a man. While I didn’t agree, I began to think about why I am a Christian Woman and these are some thoughts I came up with. I love to analyze. I analyze too much probably. (just ask Colin) So one of the things I analyze is the differences between women and men. The differences in the way we think, act etc. and the more I analyze it the more I am amazed at how God created us so differently but so very much compatible to match. Over and over again in creation I keep seeing little det...

Creation Calls!

According to numerous scientists there are over 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 stars in the universe. Over one million earths will fit in the sun. The sun is only an average size star! Over 200 trillion miles away the sun is visible to the naked eye. The sun releases more energy in one second then a billion cities in the earth would in a year. Without that energy from the sun all life on earth would die. Feeling small yet? Man has invented some cool things. The light bulb, the automobile, the computer, the dishwasher, and the robot. No man has invented a human. No man has invented a person who can think, feel and live. When we compare the creator of man, the stars and the universe with humans who cannot even fully understand how our own brain works cause they in themselves are so complex we soon realize, that creator was not just an explosion in the universe or a mere act of chance. Nope! The world is created with extreme creativity and planning. I believe that creator is an a...

To Serve or To Be Served

Do any of you have friend that you continually ask favors of and you thank them after but you never do any more than that? You never do them any favors? How many of us think that if we treated one of our friends that way, we would be able to keep that friend very long? I have been thinking about this recently. You see I have a friend that I think I treat more like my servant than I serve Him.  I feel like I constantly ask Him for favors and things (and He pulls through) but when He asks me for things, I ignore Him or shrug Him off. (If you haven’t guessed it yet, this capital H thing is because I am talking about my friend Jesus) I feel like God has been working on my trust issues a lot in the past year or so. He has been reminding me of verses like 1 Peter 5:7 - casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you and Matthew 7:7 - Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. I have started to ask God for help a...

Living Our Dreams

Image
The world tells you to live your dream. You say you are going to school for something you have always enjoyed and people say, “Good for you! You are living out your dream.” As a child, your teachers and parents encouraged you to dream big! “What do you want to be when you grow up?” You fly to a country you have wanted to always visit! You go snowboarding on a mountain you have dreamed of snowboarding on! A girl might dream to be married and have a family someday. A boy might dream to one day…..(nope, not gonna attempt to go inside the male’s head). While none of this is wrong, I was listening to Casting Crowns new cd this week and one of the songs on it put a different twist on living out dreams in my mind. Its called Dream For You. Here are the lyrics. "Dream For You" Hey, David, I hear you've been dreaming About being a big time shepherd some day You're gonna prove your brothers wrong You're gonna sing your shepherd song To the cattle on a thousan...
